Daria Roe is an artist based in France. Her vision of art and reality is shaped by personal experience, observation, thought and feeling. A keen observer of the everyday, she transforms familiar things, bodies, natural forms and materials into participants in a shifting theatre where roles can change, objects can become something else, and new stories can emerge. Daria works across drawing, collage, cut-outs, sculpture, photography, video and sound, often incorporating found and second-hand objects. She is interested in discovering new possibilities within existing things and giving them different contexts. At the same time, ideas can take physical form, while objects can become the starting point for new ideas. Her practice brings together fragments of reality through a chaotic, intuitive and associative thought process. Objects, forms and substances may interact, clash, transform or exist independently. In this way, the everyday becomes strange, opening onto other possibilities.
Her work can be provocative, but it can also emerge through silence, stillness and presence. Each project is an opportunity to discover something new, not only about the world around us, but about how that world moves through us and is transformed within
